Hello, I am Emma
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in the long-term plans. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more substantial.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more intricate than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the fly. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt steady.
Why I Created Silver Cove Atlas
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real-life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is For (And What It Isn’t)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site is not:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
A Glimpse Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Emma
